Set along the wild coastline of the Akamas Peninsula, Blue Lagoon Beach is known for water so clear it feels almost unreal. With pale sands, layered rocks, and shifting shades of turquoise and sapphire, this quiet bay offers a raw and natural beauty that feels far removed from busy resorts.

Why should you visit Blue Lagoon Beach (Paphos)

Blue Lagoon is not an organised beach with rows of sunbeds and cafes. It is a natural bay where boats anchor close to shore and swimmers step straight into luminous water. The surrounding rock formations create a partly sheltered shape, keeping the sea calm and pleasantly warm for much of the year.

The water here is among the clearest in the Paphos district. Even without diving deep, you can see fish moving between reefs and patches of sea plants. Snorkelling is easy and rewarding, making it ideal for both beginners and confident swimmers.

Although often described as remote, Blue Lagoon is one of the most visited spots in the Akamas area. It lies around fifty kilometres from Paphos town. Reaching it by land means driving slowly across rough tracks, which can take over an hour. Many visitors prefer to arrive by boat, usually from Latchi Harbour or from Paphos, turning the journey into a scenic cruise along cliffs and open sea.

There are no facilities at the bay itself. No shops, no beach bars, no organised services. What you bring with you is what you will have, which keeps the experience simple and focused on swimming, floating, exploring the water, and enjoying the open landscape.

Blue Lagoon is perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and quiet sunbathing on rocks or sand. Beyond the bay, the wider Akamas Peninsula offers coastal paths, sea caves, and famous spots such as the Baths of Aphrodite and the Edro III shipwreck, making the area ideal for slow exploration.

Tangerine Suggests

Visit in the morning or late afternoon when the light makes the water glow in deeper shades of blue, and bring water shoes for comfort over the rocky areas.

Getting there

The easiest way to reach Blue Lagoon is by boat from Latchi Harbour or Paphos, though it can also be reached by vehicle through the Akamas Peninsula using rough coastal tracks.
